Talking about working online from home, everything you need is a computer with high speed internet conection (it can be done also with an IPAD or smart phone) and with also high dose. I say dose because unlike a traditional office, you should deal with the home behavior and –if possible- set a schedule. In most online businesses, a couple of hours would be adequate to achieve good enough productivity, but it depends on the niche you want to be and/or the products and services to offer.

Although there are no rules about how to do it (everyone has different habits), some tips on what to follow while working from home can be very useful, at least as we adjust our new environment.
Something that I like is to have my own office so I can set my own personal stamp on it; my laptop, my phone, my desk, chair, family photos and other non interesting objects (but mine), that make me feel like I’m in a friendly atmosphere while I´m working. Even thought working at home should not look like a business office, it helps a lot to have a specific workplace. This place should be free of distractions and it is a good idea to communicate to others around you that this is your workplace. You can enlighten up with your personal little few properties.
Good. You already have an office. The next thing you should do is set goals (like everyone who want to be successful). Nothing in life works if you don´t have a plan to follow up and find out if you are going in the right direction. Establish a plan allows you better time management as well as detecting (earlier) when to change the direction. You can do this following up activity in a weekly or daily basis. You may want to decide later.
Once you have made your plan, it is important to establish job routines so that your life gets organized as well as people around you. Surely you know what day time you become more productive (I am more productive between 7 and 9 am and also between 5 and 7 pm). You may choose the more convenient time for you and your business.
When you are working online you may lose the social sense beyond twitter or facebook. You need to take time and to share great and simple moments with your family and friends. You should be looking for ways to have special date or meet with former officemates. I cannot imagine staying the whole weekend at home with all the opportunities the world has to offer. So, be disconnected often.
That said, it is very important the time you are working should be completely useful (mean productive). Avoid distractions of popular sites and stroll through the web looking for something interesting. Compare the time it takes (web navigating) to make a letter to your followers or the time it takes to write an article for your blog. So don’t lose your working time. Be solid with it.
When I work online, I usually take some small breaks like walking to the cooler for something to drink or preparing a good coffee. Or I just completely forget everything for the whole day!
Remember do not confuse “work hard” with “work efficiently”. Consistency is the key to achieving the success you want. The more you repeat your job the more success you may have.
